Gonorrhoea Vaccine Now Available to Eligible People on the NHS

A new vaccine to help protect against gonorrhoea is now available through the NHS for people most at risk of the infection. This marks a significant advancement in sexual health care particularly in addressing antibiotic-resistant strains of gonorrhoea.

Who Can Get the Vaccine?

The NHS is currently offering the gonorrhoea vaccine to people who are at higher risk of infection. This includes:

  • Men who have sex with men (MSM)
  • Those who have had a bacterial STI in the last 12 months
  • A recent history of multiple partners
  • Those identified as being at increased risk following a sexual health assessment

Eligibility will be determined by a healthcare professional, usually during a consultation at a sexual health clinic.
